i saw this and thought with our drama team and media people, we might be able to do something similar. i know it would be tough to match this high of quality. the bar's pretty high...

3/16
thoughts for 3/16:
video montage: nicely done by josh b: loved the music choice (whoo! ramones!) loved how he mixed some of the audio in from the clips- nicely paced. would have been nice to keep the song going (or restart it, in this case) and let the sound guys fade it down for transition purposes.
i like mixing it up and having someone do the welcome who's not speaking. i can't put my finger on why, but i like it.
Belief- John Mayer: good song, sounded great.
Changing Minds drama: i (john c) confess a bias, but i thought kathleen did very well on this one. sam was a great choice- he played it right on. it seemed like second service, there were some awkward searching for lines pauses, on both of their parts, but very slight, not enough to take away from it.
Help me believe- nicole nordeman: Cool having the singer be in the drama area- christina has tremendous stage presence. she did great with this song.
Message/video: i liked fred sciff (sp?); i thought he made some really cool points. the "y'knows" were really distracting to me though- but kathleen (for instance) didn't notice it all. i liked the sunset pictures- some more stills to break it up would have been cool. nicely edited by trevor in a very limited amount of time- probably could have been a little shorter.
creation calls song/media backup: great song, well sung (as usual) by david. i thought the timing of the piece (and the work the band did to maintain the timing) was a real home run for us- as always with a youtube download, there is some quality issues (slightly fuzzy) but i thought this one looked pretty good, considering it came from youtube. not enough to take away from the emotional impact. again, to reference kathleen: she didn't notice anything different quality wise with the piece.

3-9 Eval
Band Intro: Disarray--Lifehouse
*we turned this down after the first service--Good call by the sound guys. The mix was great, but somehow I didn't catch how loud it was during run through--it didn't seem loud to me, but it definitely was, so good job fixing this. Eric struggled a little with words both services--losing your place on the page maybe?
Media: Good Book
This seemed to work--I'm glad the music continued as it faded out. Maybe some more examples of what the Bible says--like stuff from the drama would have added to this...
Drama:
Got some good laughs both service--Kevin and Di did a great job.
Media: A Year of Living Biblically
There seemed to be a few rough transitions in the media...and the ending was a bit awkward.
Ending Song: Word of God Speak
Eric had a few pitch problems..working on taking some of the country out.:)

3-2-08 eval
well, it's been awhile for evaluating, so let's get this going! i will confess a great deal of nerves (and not nearly enough trust!) coming into this week- after all, what better way to follow up on an unmitigated media disaster than a service that's entirely dependent on media? but God is good, and all worked out this go around. (for those curious about what the end of feb. service would have looked like with functioning media, check it out on meaningfulchurch. richard did a great job putting the stuff we wanted to use on there).
continuing with the media vibe: loved the shots of roy's message- great look, good audio. very, very seamless flow of message and movie shots; audio transitions from clips to roy and back were particularly good. loved the saved! intro. there were 3 things i would have done different with media overall: 1. probably trim the simpsons montage by about 30 seconds or so. the last few clips and the first few got a good response, but the middle ones were a little hit and miss. 2. i thought the saved backup got to a good spot, but the first clips were too short and it was off pace wise. as the backup kept going, the clips were longer, and the pace was matching the song better; that would have been better from the get go. 3. the bloopers were fantastic- the audio levels on the background music were a little too high.
liked the drama a lot; pace was problematic at times, but very good overall.
great music day, as is usually the case. fantastic ending song.
all the transitions seemed smooth- i was very pleased with the end result, overall.
